Willets (Catoptrophorus semipalmatus) flock in nonbreeding plumage, intraspecific competition during foraging, each trying to reach a food item that one has found buried in mud on the shoreline. When one located a prey item, all its flock mates ran over to try to steal the prey. Behavior was observed numerous times. Fort De Soto Park, Florida, USA
